For those who care or are remotely curious, the name Alian was a blend of the names of Alian Design's principles—Alan & Ian—hence, Al+ian = Alian. It is pronounced with a slight french flare, like such: Aa-lee-ann.
The logo was designed in about 5-10 minutes give or take a variation and the "i" in the middle represents Ian, who remains Alian's creative force. Alright, maybe I am reading into it a bit much, but that is the gist of it without getting too esoteric.
There have been a good number of other explorations for the logo, but we always came back to this one. It works and feels bold and established and has longevity. Perhaps it's only draw back is in the tendency of most people to read it as "Alien". While it does not bother us much, it is a snobbish reaction of ours to occasionally correct the mispronunciation. Otherwise yes, we truly are "out of this world".
